Happy Easter!

From my last companion Sister Kim, I learned how to better express my gratitude. To do that, I've been writing my blessings in the end of my planner every day and thanking the members like crazy. As I have been expressing my gratitude, I've felt so much happier. I have so many thank you cards to write!!

Here are a few things I've been grateful for this week...

1. Austin emailed me last week and Brooke wrote me a letter.

2. We updated my foreigner card so I'm still legal!

3. We were able to meet with five different members this week and practice teaching the plan of salvation really well.

4. For preparation day, we went to the temple and rode bikes along the 한강 river. It was a blast! And a beautiful day!

5. I got a package at the temple from the Robinsons.

6. We went sticker boarding with the Elders, it was a lot of fun!

7. We went to Young Women’s on Sunday and we were able to participate in the lesson. I told the girls in Korean about experiences I had when I was their age.

8. Yesterday was ward conference so on Saturday night we had a big 가정의 (family night). It was great! Most of the ward came including less actives. Our only investigator even came. Sister Robinson and I had to do the message. We watched a scene from Meet the Mormons and asked for people's thoughts on it. Our investigator ended up sharing her thoughts of how she liked learning about our church. It was a neat experience and I'm so grateful for it.

9. I love serving in the Mokdong ward!

10. I have a great companion, Sister Robinson!

I love being a missionary. I'm grateful for all the experiences I've had thus far! Have a wonderful week!!

Sister Mustain

Two Words: Missionary Life

This past week flew by!!! We had a zone 전도(proselyting) activity, zone conference, English class, and an awesome lesson with our only investigator. It was a blast!

I'll start with our investigator lesson. Our investigator is in her 60s. We wanted our lesson to be really good so we practiced a lot! When we met with her on Wednesday, Sister Robinson asked her how she was doing and she told us about some things she is struggling with. The gift of tongues is real! I was able to understand her and Sister Robinson started talking to her about the Atonement. We ended up sharing Alma 7:11-13 and teaching the Atonement (which was not the lesson we planned). It was an amazing lesson. You could just felt the spirit. After the lesson we had English class and she was telling all the English class members about how she loves our church:)

Then on Saturday during English class, we ended up talking for about 20 minutes about the word of wisdom and baptism! It was neat because our class members were asking us about it.

Thursday we did sticker boarding as a zone. Sticker boarding is where we have a board with questions and ask people to put a sticker by their question.  It was so much fun!

Friday we had zone conference! That is the meeting where our mission president comes and gives us training. We learned about the importance of teaching repentance. I didn't realize just how important it is. Repentance is change and if our investigators aren't changing before baptism, they won't change after. It was a spiritually uplifting zone conference.

We also met with a lot of members this week and received enough food to never have to go grocery shopping again! (Well...at least for a while.) It was a great week!

I'm so grateful to be able to share the gospel with others! I know through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can truly be happy. I have seen that through my mission. I'm happy because this gospel makes me happy!!

Members!

Being a missionary just makes me want to be a better member missionary. In missionary work, members are so important! This week we did practice lessons with members and had a member with us at a lesson with an investigator.

We don't have a lot of investigators right now, but one is a woman in her sixties. She is really nice and has a lot of questions about the gospel that are hard for us to answer. We decided to bring a member to our lesson. It went really well. The member was able to answer a lot of the investigators questions. It was neat to see the difference of a lesson when a member helps the missionaries.

We were also able to do practice lessons with the members which was great, because we need all the help we can get! I know that without members, missionary work is not nearly as effective as is could be. Therefore, I want to be a better member missionary when I get home.

Alma 37:6-7 explains how it is by simple things that great things occur. I think this best explains missionary work. By the small things we do, someone will come to accept the message of the gospel. We can continue to learn new things about the gospel. I know this gospel is true. I know God  loves and knows each and every one of us individually! I'm so happy because the gospel helps me know who I am and who I can become. I know Joseph Smith was a boy with a simple question and was chosen by God to teach us the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I know with all my heart the gospel is true.

Have a great week! And Smile, Jesus Loves You!

Sister Mustain

New Transfer, New Start

This past week was a new transfer!! I'm now in Mokdong which is really close to the Seoul Mission. This ward is slightly smaller than my last one, but I'm excited to serve here! We met with two investigators this week and it was good. It's always hard to adjust your teaching to each new companion, but as missionaries we are always learning!

At the beginning of the week we had every meal but breakfast provided for since I was leaving. It was hard to say goodbye to the Sanbon ward, but I'm excited for a new start. (Hopefully this will be my last area.) I will always remember the people and experiences I had in Sanbon! I learned so much there.

I just want to say that I'm so grateful for my last companion. I learned so much from her. Being in a new area I find myself using all the things she taught me. Sister Kim is the best!!

My new companion is Sister Robinson She is so smart and so much fun. She is a hard worker and I look forward to serving with her this transfer!

I'd like to share my testimony of the Savior. Being a missionary has taught me how much God loves and blesses us and how much everyone needs the atonement. When I first started my mission I was nervous. I didn't know how to work with a companion. I didn't know Korean. And I didn't know that much about missionary work. As I continued to pray and put my trust in my Savior, I have been able to do things I never thought I could do! This week I introduced myself in Sacrament meeting. I was able to say things in Korean that I never thought I would be able to say. As we rely on the Savior and his atonement and strive to do the best we can, God will help us do amazing things. I know that is true. I know my Savior lives and loves me! I'm so grateful for my decision to serve a mission!!!

Transfers

Saturday night we received transfer calls. Sister Kim is staying in 산본, and I'm going to 목동. My new companion is Sister Robinson and I look forward to a new start.

First off I just want to say that I've loved serving in Sanbon. The members here work hard and they have taught me a lot about being a member missionary. I've also enjoyed serving with Sister Kim. She taught me a lot about the Korean culture and how to express my love to the people better. She also taught me a lot of Korean.😉

This week one of our investigators came to church! She is 15, sweet, and ready for the gospel. It was a joy to have her there. Especially since my companion and I had to speak in sacrament meeting. That is always fun.

I want to share something my companion shared with me.

"Be patient in afflictions for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for, lo, I am with thee even unto the end of thy days." D&C 42:8.

I know as we are patient with the Lord's timing, we will be able to overcome all of our trials.

Love,
Sister Mustain
